Helen (Hickman) Allen

Helen Hickman Allen, age 81, of Wilson, formerly of Cape Carteret, NC passed away Saturday, February 21, 2026 at Parkwood Retirement Village in Wilson, NC.

She was born in Harnett County, NC on April 15, 1944 to the late Reuben R. Hickman and Dollie Holder Hickman.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Sidney Allen and her son Scott Allen.

Helen worked as a Dental Assistant in Raleigh, NC for many years until her retirement. Upon retirement she moved to Cape Carteret, near Emerald Isle, NC.  She loved to travel.  Among her favorite trips were visiting Alaska and New York City.

She is survived by her sibling Shelby H. Gardner of Georgia, Betty H. Matthews of Sanford, R.J. Hickman (Jenny) of Efland, NC, Tommy Hickman (Connie) of Sanford, NC, Donnie Hickman (Gail) of Sanford, Vickie H. Douglas (Billy) of Sanford, NC and several nieces and nephews.  Helen is also survived by very special friends Kelly Gamble and Ann Hoffner both of Wilson, NC.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 25, 2026, one hour prior to the funeral service (10:00 AM to 11:00 AM) with the funeral service following at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Thomas officiating.  Burial will follow at Buffalo Cemetery.
