Marvin Wayne Reedy

Marvin Wayne Reedy, age 91, of Sanford, North Carolina passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, February 28, 2026.

He was the oldest of three children, born on March 5, 1934 in Columbus, Indiana to the late Emil Isam Reedy and Bernice Hanna DuBois Reedy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 49 years Mary Frances Ellis Reedy, son-in-law James Haigler, and his sister Donna Faye Reedy Barber.

Marvin served in the armed forces during the early 1960s, before working as a tool designer with Saco Lowell in Sanford for 26 years, then Lufkin in Apex for 19 years, where he earned a patent for his innovative tape measure design. He was an active member of Sanford Chapel since joining in 1951.  He served Christ at the Chapel in a variety of roles, including as Elder, Deacon, Trustee, and youth leader.  In his spare time, Marvin enjoyed fishing and NASCAR.

Marvin is survived by his wife of 20 years; Norma Faye Stone Reedy, his daughter Rachel Renee Reedy Haigler and her son Dustin Haigler (Donna); Dennis Wayne Reedy and his daughters Nikki Rivers and Amber Rivers; Douglas Wayne Reedy (Bonnie) and his daughter Kaitlyn Reedy.  He is also survived by his sister Nita Ann Reedy Gaines, his four stepchildren Wally Stone, Anita Layton, Laverne Reynolds, and Shannon Phillips plus eleven step-grandchildren and several step-great-grandchildren, plus many nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and other times at the home of Renee Reedy Haigler.  A graveside service will be held at Lee Memory Gardens on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at 2:00 PM with Mr. Dennis Petry presiding.
